Product Designer

About the Fellows:

Janish U

Janish has a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Calicut, and several expert level certifications in computer aided design.

 

He, along with his team, secured the  prestigious Gandhian Young Technological Innovation Award from the Vice President of India for his graduation project where he designed and developed a cost-effective prosthetic leg for above-knee amputees. He was also a winner of IEEE -SS12 2018 International Project Competition held at the NSBM Green University, Sri Lanka.

 

Before joining NCAHT, Janish co-founded CarboZero a successful startup that has installed its innovative, cost effective, environment friendly incinerators at 150+ sites including hospitals, auditoria and households. 

 

Janish finds joy in creating innovative solutions that impact society positively. This commitment motivates him to give his best to his work at NCAHT.

Janish loves to learn and explore. When not making (or breaking) things, he can be found exploring the diverse landscape of Kerala on his motorcycle, or perhaps engrossed in a good book under a shady tree.

Khushboo.jpg

​Khushboo Trehan

Khushboo has a bachelor's degree in Prosthetics and Orthotics from Vardhman Mahavir Medical College and Safdarjung Hospital and a Master's in the same field from the renowned PDUNIPPD, University of Delhi. 

​

She has a work experience of 3 years working as a consultant with P&O International, and a few other hospitals and private clinics. She has was a presenter at the participated in National Conference of OPAI in the year 2022

​

When not working, she likes to find peace in solitude and joy in music. For her, mountains are a wellspring of inspiration and rejuvenation. She seeks to inspire, uplift, and leave a trail of positive energy wherever she goes. 

​

Khushboo is passionate about making a difference through her hard work and is always looking to forge collaborations for the common cause of serving those in need. She wants to employ a creative and action-oriented mindset to discover innovative solutions to the challenges of people with functional impairment.

Priyanka.jpg

Priyanka Morbale

Priyanka has a B.E in Instrumentation Engineering from Mumbai University and M.S. in Biomedical Engineering from University of Southampton, UK.

​

During  Bachelor’s, she worked on developing a ‘Solar Panel cleaning robot’ in collaboration with ‘TechNova Imaging Systems’ and during Masters' she worked to develop a ‘Lab-on-chip device to study protein aggregation’ using Self-Interaction Chromatography (SIC).

​

Priyanka has worked as a Computer System Validation engineer for a Pharma Multinational company for a year and as a Research Engineer for 2 years in the Research & Development department of an analytical instruments manufacturing company where she looked after application testing and headed the electronics Design & Development  section.

​

Priyanka is a British Council of India ambassador and a scholarship holder of the British Council 70th Anniversary Scholarship for Women in STEM. She was part of a delegation that visited 10 Downing Street, London and met then British PM Theresa May.

​

In her free time, she enjoys relaxing with her coffee and a book in hand and noting small excerpts and quotes that touch her. She is also a curious explorer and loves discovering new places.

She believes that the field of Assistive Technology is undergoing a revolution in which she would like to actively participate. Her passion to make healthcare accessible to all drives her work at NCAHT.

Kamalakanta Gahan

Kamalakanta (KK) has a B.Sc in Physics from Fakir Mohan University, MA in Medical Anthropology from Pondicherry Central University, and M.Phil Public Health from Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai. The interplay between health, culture and society fascinates him greatly.

​

During MA, he used the ethnographic method to conduct a study on exploring the link between anthropology and public health in a tribal population - proposing an 8-step framework to improve the health status of the Malayali tribes.

​

During M.Phil at TISS, Mumbai, he studied the lived experiences of cancer patients through an exploratory study using narratives - exploring the mental, emotional and social determinants of health. He also undertook a systematic review and meta-analysis on breast cancer, and prepared a policy brief on the same for rural Odisha.

 

Kamalakanta has led research teams working with organizations like WHO, JHPIEGO  and NACO, gaining experience cutting across the entire research life cycle from idea to publication.

​

He presented a paper on behavioural pathways and challenges of cancer patients at the 2023 International Conference of the Indian association for  Social Sciences and Health (IASSH) on contextualizing health in social sciences at Sharda University, Greater Noida. His work is also under peer review for Journal publication.

 

At NCAHT, he aspires to leverage his multidisciplinary background to conduct research with a meaningful impact on the lives of communities across India.

 

When not researching, Kamal likes to practice yoga, meditate, and read non-fiction. He also shares his thoughts and ideas through a blog. Kamal also likes to travel in a quest for new experiences and perspectives.

Prarthna.jpg

Prarthana Sanya Lall

Prarthana has a Bachelors’ degree in Physiotherapy from Christian Medical College, Ludhiana and  a Masters’ in Physiotherapy (Musculoskeletal Sciences) from Gachon University, South Korea. During masters, she investigated the impact of eccentric exercises and that of ageing on muscle stiffness and fatigue. Her work led to the publication of two papers in SCIE indexed journals.

​

She has one year’s work experience working as a Physiotherapist at a hospital in Prayagraj and with a growing tele-rehabilitation platform.  

Prarthana is an avid music lover who enjoys singing and constantly explores new genres. 

​

Through her work at NCAHT, Prarthana is committed to dive deep into research pertaining to the field of functional impairment with a view of helping people achieve greater independance and improve their quality of life.

Srishti Jain

Srishti has a Bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy from Delhi Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research University and a Masters in Physiotherapy (Neurology) from ISIC - Institute of Rehabilitation Sciences. During the latter, she developed a special interest in rehabilitation after Spinal Cord Injury.

After securing her masters’ degree, she worked as a Physiotherapist at IBS Hospital, an advanced neuro-rehabilitation centre where she learnt to work with cutting edge in the field.

​

Srishti has published papers on ‘The Effects of Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation on Working Memory in College Students in Delhi NCR’ and ‘Validity and Reliability of Prokin 252N (Tecnobody) Balance System for Assessment of Standing Balance in Individuals with Incomplete Spinal Cord Injury’. 

She is perpetually curious, always seeking the next challenge. When not working, she enjoys travelling and exploring new places. She is a curious and adventurous person who is always looking for new challenges.

At NCAHT, she wants to raise awareness about the importance of assistive technology in rehabilitation and encourage more people to adopt these solutions. Her passion, dedication and expertise make her a valuable member of the team at NCAHT and she is committed to make a positive impact on the lives of the people through her work.

Akshay

Akshay has a Bachelor’s degree in Product Design from National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad. He has 6.5 years of experience working on products across multiple domains like consumer appliances, industrial products, medical products etc. He’s a co-inventor on 2 granted patents and 6 patent pending inventions. Akshay loves to understand how the world works - whether it is the microcosm of devices or the macrocosm of complex systems. He finds joy in combining cross-disciplinary knowledge to beautifully build impactful solutions. Akshay plans to be a successful technopreneur soon.

Abhishek Singh Aswal

AAbhishek has a B.Tech degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from G.B. Pant Institute of Engineering and Technology Pauri, Uttrakhand.
He worked as an Embedded Engineer for an IoT and Robotics Company, where he designed and developed PCBs and firmware for embedded controllers. Abhishek constantly explores emerging trends and likes to stay abreast of the latest advancements in IoT, embedded systems, and connected devices. He comes to NCAHT eager to leverage his skills in IoT to "push the boundaries of what is possible in the field of Assistive Technology". Eventually, he strives to make a positive impact on the society. When not tinkering with circuit boards, he may be found in the kitchen stirring up innovative recipes.

Pawan Kumar

Pawan has a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Aryabhatta Knowledge University Patna and an M. Tech in Computational and Experimental Mechanics from IIT Madras.
During his M. Tech, he worked on the design and fabrication of biodegradable polymer stent-like structures using FDM 3D printing, tailored for personalized applications. Before joining NCAHT, he interned at a surgical robotics company as a mechanical engineer. In his free time, he enjoys relaxing music and discovering new places as a curious explorer.

Yatin Narsihani

Yatin has a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design (B.des) from Unitedworld Institute of Design, Ahmedabad. He believes “the perpetual pursuit of  personal growth keeps us dedicated to what we do and helps achieve our goals.”

He has worked with the World Wildlife Fund for Nature and Wildlife, Assam, on human-animal conflict. There he developed cost effective infrastructure to protect schools from wildlife without harming animals. He also helped streamline a registration system for ex-gratia compensation. He also has two design registrations to his credit. At NCAHT, the fascinating idea of integrating design, technology, and sustainability to develop meaningful solutions brings him to work every day. When off work, he is an avid traveler and passionate explorer of food, culture, and events.
